(Sydney, 23 November, 2015) DB Schenker expands its logistics presence with the opening of a new 14,030sqm facility in Truganina, Victoria on 23rd of November 2015. The facility’s inauguration was officiated by the Minister for Industry, Lily D’Ambrosio.  Mrs D’Ambrosio commented, “The opening of this facility in Truganina strengthens DB Schenker’s leading position in Australia for logistics and transportation”.  “The State Government is working hard to encourage Global businesses like DB Schenker to invest in and grow their operations in Victoria through a number of industry and infrastructure initiatives”, concluded Mrs Lily D’Ambrosio.

The storage solution created in the new Truganina warehouse for an existing industrial customer is unique, and provides significant cost saving, as well as product protection from damage in storage. The construction allows for storage of up to 4 metre lengths and up to 9 metres in height. DB Schenker Australia was able to demonstrate the ability to find innovative solutions to fulfil customer’s need and showcase the commitment to innovation and excellence.

“This is our fourth facility in Victoria which is enhancing our Contract Logistics position in the state and supporting our ongoing growth,” said Ron Koehler, CEO, Schenker Australia Pty Ltd. “Based in the rapidly expanding industrial area, our design & build facility was less constrained than in other traditional industrial areas, and we were able to achieve a design that optimised the storage density and handling efficiency of our customers. The net benefit of this facility is a lower overall cost for our customers to deliver their products to the Australian market”, Ron Koehler, said.
