DB Schenker & Jinbei Automotive establish JV for logistics in Shenyang
DB Schenker and Shenyang Jinbei Automotive Company Ltd. officially formed a joint venture for logistics services during a festive ceremony in Shenyang, northeastern China, on November 25, 2015.
Under the name Schenker Jinbei Logistics (Shenyang) Co. Ltd., the joint venture plans to build a logistics center to provide top in class logistics services to its customers. The state-of-the-art facility is planned with a footprint of 45,000 square meters and is located in the Tiexi district of Shenyang. In the same area, conveniently situated in ultimate proximity to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their 1st and 2nd tier suppliers, Jinbei Automotive is also investing into an automotive supplier park close to the BMW-Brilliance Automotive (BBA) production plant.
The new logistics hub will provide the full range of logistics services including customized logistics solutions, supply chain management, pick and pack, just in time/sequence inventory (JIT/JIS), inventory management, quality control, cross docking and vendor management inventory (VMI), as well as distribution and forwarding services to its customers. The start of the joint venture operations is scheduled for the beginning of 2015 with the logistics center to be established in the beginning of 2016.
Shenyang is a center of gravity for foreign and domestic investments in China and one of the largest clusters of the Chinese automobile industry. DB Schenker opened its office in Shenyang in 2003 and has been growing steadily since then.
"The formation of this joint venture is an important milestone for us getting us closer to our objective to become China’s leading logistics service provider," said Mr. Karl-Heinz Emberger, Managing Director, North/Central China, Schenker China Ltd.
