The target in air freight transport is to reduce specific CO₂ emissions by 25 percent by 2020 compared to 2006. In 2012, DB Schenker Logistics was able to stabilize specific emissions at 2011 levels. This is above all due to increased capacity utilization of preferred carriers. The figures do not include the next-generation B777-F cargo planes already in use, which offer potential reductions of 15 percent compared to the B747-400-ERF and 20 percent compared to the B747-400F.
